Retatrutide Reddit: What 768 Threads Talk About, Checked Against the Trials

Retatrutide Reddit, sorted: we grouped 768 thread titles by topic and checked the dosing, results and side effect claims against Lilly's Phase 3 trial data.

On retatrutide Reddit, the two biggest groups of threads are dose questions and progress posts: of 768 retatrutide threads we sorted by title, about 1 in 4 asked about dosing and about 1 in 4 posted results. The weight-loss stories fit Lilly's trial numbers better than you might expect. The dosing habits mostly don't, and nearly every vial in those threads comes from a peptide seller, because no approved version exists yet (as of September 2026).

768retatrutide threads we sorted by title from Reddit listings on September 26, 2026
28.3%average weight loss on 12 mg at 80 weeks in TRIUMPH-1, vs 2.2% on placebo
8.7%average loss on 1 mg at 48 weeks in Phase 2, the low-dose data Reddit rarely cites
Q1 2027when Lilly plans to file retatrutide with the FDA; no approved version exists yet

Key takeaways

  • About a quarter of the retatrutide threads we sorted asked about dosing, and another quarter posted results.
  • The big weight losses on Reddit are in line with TRIUMPH-1, where 45.3% of people on 12 mg lost 30% or more.
  • A popular claim that 2 mg is the lowest dose ever studied is wrong: Phase 2 tested 1 mg and Phase 1b tested 0.5 mg.
  • Sleep trouble, skin tingling and a faster heart rate come up often on Reddit, and only two of those have trial data.
  • Nearly every vial discussed on Reddit comes from a peptide seller, and US and UK regulators have acted against sellers.

Much of the public talk about reta happens on Reddit, and r/Retatrutide alone accounted for 490 of the threads we sorted. Below, each theme sits next to what the trials measured, with a plain label on which is which. A thread is one person's report. A trial is hundreds or thousands of people with a placebo group.

What retatrutide Reddit threads are actually about

We pulled about 900 thread titles from Reddit's public listings and search results on September 26, 2026, and 768 of them were about retatrutide. We then sorted those by the words in each title. A title can land in more than one row, and a keyword sort misses sarcasm, so treat it as a rough map.

ThemeThreads (of 768)What the titles look like
Dosing, mixing and syringe units200Starting doses, how much water to add to a vial, mg to units
Progress and results199Month-by-month updates, pounds lost, before and after photos
Switching or stacking163Moving over from tirzepatide, adding TRT or other peptides
Side effects97Sleep, skin tingling, heart rate, libido, face changes
Stalls and hunger coming back33Weeks with no loss, appetite returning late in the week
Vial quality and sellers32Cloudy or slimy vials after mixing, where to buy
Stopping, breaks and maintenance29Coming off, restarting after a break, tapering
News, Lilly and the law26Phase 3 results, FDA warning letters, filing dates

About 178 titles fit none of these, mostly posts like "reta changed my life". The rest of the threads came from biohacking and peptide subreddits, a retatrutide community for women, and tirzepatide groups where people ask whether to switch. A few posts in peptide subs talk about "research subjects" instead of themselves, a wink borrowed from the way sellers label their vials.

Results people post, next to what the trials found

About half of the top 100 posts of all time on r/Retatrutide are progress updates from 5 to 12 months in: 80, 100, sometimes 200 pounds down, usually with photos. Those numbers sound unreal until you look at TRIUMPH-1, Lilly's 80-week Phase 3 trial in 2,339 adults with obesity or overweight.

TRIUMPH-1 group (80 weeks)Average weight lossLost 30% or more
Placebo2.2% (5.5 lb)0.5%
4 mg19.0% (47.2 lb)15.3%
9 mg25.9% (64.4 lb)37.9%
12 mg28.3% (70.3 lb)45.3%

Close to half the people on 12 mg (45.3%) lost at least 30% of their body weight. In the 532 people with a BMI of 35 or more who stayed on to week 104, the group that started on 12 mg averaged 30.3% (85.0 lb). So a 100-pound Reddit post isn't fantasy for someone who started heavy.

What Reddit can't show you is the denominator. People who lose 100 pounds post photos; people who stall mostly post a short "is this normal?" thread, and people who quit post nothing. One highly upvoted post complains about people on steroid cycles posting their physiques as reta transformations. Low doses matter too: in the Phase 2 trial in the New England Journal of Medicine, 1 mg averaged 8.7% at 48 weeks, against 24.2% on 12 mg.

Our read: compare a Reddit result with the trial average for the same dose and time frame, not with the top post of the year. If you're after the full picture, our page on retatrutide weight loss in the trials breaks it down by dose and week.

Reta dosage on Reddit versus the trial schedule

Dose questions are the single biggest group of threads. The titles show the range: people starting as low as 0.25 mg or 0.5 mg, injecting every 5 days instead of every 7, splitting a weekly dose, converting milligrams to syringe units after mixing a 10 mg vial, and a few at 15 mg or more.

A claim that keeps coming up, including in the title of one of the year's top posts, is that 2 mg a week is the lowest dose studied in trials. That's wrong. The Phase 2 obesity trial had a 1 mg group, and the Phase 1b trial in people with type 2 diabetes, published in The Lancet, gave some people 0.5 mg a week for 12 weeks.

QuestionWhat Reddit threads describeWhat the trials did
First dose0.25 mg to 2 mg2 mg weekly (Phase 3); 1 mg, 2 mg or 4 mg (Phase 2)
Step-upsAnything from fast jumps to months on one doseEvery 4 weeks (Phase 3)
How oftenEvery 5, 6 or 7 days, some split dosesOnce a week
Top doseSome posts at 15 mg or more12 mg

Two trial details explain a lot of Reddit's arguments. In Phase 2, starting at 2 mg instead of 4 mg partly reduced the stomach side effects, which is the evidence behind "low and slow". And the Phase 1b trial measured a half-life of about 6 days, the number people cite when they debate dosing every 5 days. No published trial has tested anything other than weekly dosing, and every published retatrutide trial we found topped out at 12 mg.

The syringe math is where Reddit dosing goes wrong most often, because the same "dose" in units means a different number of milligrams depending on how much water went into the vial. Our retatrutide dosage page shows what each trial gave and what can't be worked out from the trials. The dose itself is a decision for a doctor.

Side effects Reddit talks about most

Stomach trouble is so common on Reddit that people joke about it, and the trials back that up. In TRIUMPH-1, nausea affected 28.6% to 42.4% of people on retatrutide against 14.8% on placebo, rising with the dose. Diarrhea hit 25.2% to 34.1%, against 13.5%. Everything else on this list gets less trial detail.

What Reddit reportsWhat the trial data says
Waking at 3 am, can't sleep after shot dayNo insomnia rate in any Lilly topline release
Skin that tingles, burns or hurts to touchTRIUMPH-1: dysesthesia in 5.1% to 12.5% vs 0.9% on placebo
Resting heart rate going upPhase 2: dose-dependent rises that peaked at 24 weeks, then declined
ConstipationTRIUMPH-1: 23.8% to 26.1% vs 10.9% on placebo
VomitingTRIUMPH-1: 10.6% to 25.3% vs 4.8% on placebo
Lower libido, flat mood, less motivationNo published retatrutide numbers
A thinner, older-looking faceNo trial has measured it

That skin symptom, burning or oversensitive skin (dysesthesia), hit about 1 in 8 people on 12 mg (12.5%) in TRIUMPH-1. The Zepbound label puts it at 0.2% to 0.4% on tirzepatide. That's class data from different trials, so it isn't a head-to-head, but the gap is wide. Sleep has no number at all. It's one of the most repeated complaints in the threads and nobody has published a rate; our page on retatrutide insomnia covers what little is known. The hollower look people call "reta face" tends to follow fast weight loss, and reta face has its own page.

In TRIUMPH-1, 4.1% to 11.3% of people stopped retatrutide because of side effects, against 4.9% on placebo.

When to get medical help

Get same-day care for belly pain that is severe or won't go away, vomiting or diarrhea that stops you keeping fluids down, swelling of the face or throat or trouble breathing, or a racing heartbeat with chest pain or fainting. If you also take insulin or a sulfonylurea, shakiness, sweating and confusion can mean low blood sugar. Some Reddit threads describe trips to the ER, one of them for dehydration.

Switching from tirzepatide and stacking

About 1 in 5 threads mention another drug. The common stories: someone plateaus on tirzepatide and switches, someone switches and says they feel nothing on appetite for weeks, and someone adds a little tirzepatide on top of retatrutide for food noise. Other threads pair reta with testosterone or growth hormone peptides.

No published trial has combined retatrutide with tirzepatide in people. Both act on the GLP-1 and GIP receptors, so their side effects overlap, and nobody has measured what happens when you add them together. Our page on retatrutide and tirzepatide together sets out what each drug's own data shows.

As of September 2026, retatrutide is still in Phase 3 trials. In its July 23, 2026 release, Lilly said it plans to file a Biologics License Application with the FDA in Q1 2027 and repeated that it "cannot be legally sold or marketed for human use". Apart from the odd trial participant, almost everyone injecting in these threads bought from a peptide seller.

Regulators have noticed. On March 31, 2026, the FDA sent a warning letter to a seller that listed retatrutide, calling it an unapproved new drug; the seller's labels said the products weren't meant for people, and the FDA found its website showed they were. In October 2025 the UK's MHRA seized more than 2,000 unlicensed retatrutide and tirzepatide pens at an illegal production site in Northampton. In July 2026 it warned that products sold as retatrutide come with "no guarantee that they even contain retatrutide".

Reddit's own quality threads read the same way: vials that turn cloudy or slimy a day after mixing, a supplier switching to 1 g of powder in plastic bottles, and one of the sub's top posts of all time begging people to stop posting their vial hauls. If you're weighing a seller anyway, the check that matters is a batch-specific third-party test for identity, purity, amount per vial and endotoxin, with a batch number that matches your vial; our page on retatrutide for sale explains how to read one and the red flags that come with it.

How to read a reta thread without getting burned

Start with the dose and the time frame, then find the matching TRIUMPH-1 row. A post that beats the 12 mg average on a starter dose, in a few months, is far outside what the trials saw, which is a reason to ask what else is going on, such as other drugs or a crash diet.

Check the post history for other compounds. TRT, growth hormone peptides and stimulants change both the scale and the photos. A stall thread doesn't mean retatrutide stopped working either; plateaus happen on every weight-loss drug, and our retatrutide plateau page covers what the trial curves show.

Our read: Reddit is good at telling you which side effects people notice day to day, like sleep and skin, that the trial releases barely mention. It's bad at telling you what dose is safe for you, because nobody in a thread knows what is in your vial.

If you'd rather get retatrutide the legitimate way, search ClinicalTrials.gov for "retatrutide" and filter for recruiting studies. Expect slim pickings: as of September 2026, 2 of the 33 retatrutide listings were recruiting, and one of those isn't a Lilly trial.

Frequently asked questions

What does Reddit say about retatrutide?

Most retatrutide threads on Reddit are progress updates and dose questions. People describe strong appetite suppression and big losses, and the most common complaints are stomach trouble, poor sleep, skin tingling and a faster heart rate. Those are user reports; the trial benchmark is TRIUMPH-1, where people on 12 mg lost 28.3% of their weight on average over 80 weeks.

How much retatrutide should I take, according to Reddit?

Reddit dosing is all over the place, from 0.25 mg to 15 mg or more, and some people inject every 5 days instead of weekly. In Lilly's Phase 3 trials, people started at 2 mg once a week and stepped up every 4 weeks to 4 mg, 9 mg or 12 mg. No approved dose exists, so dose decisions belong with a doctor.

What is GLP-3 on Reddit?

GLP-3 is a Reddit nickname for retatrutide, because it acts on three hormone receptors: GIP, GLP-1 and glucagon. It isn't an official drug class or a real hormone, and Lilly calls the label scientifically inaccurate. Lilly calls retatrutide a triple hormone receptor agonist.

Where do people on Reddit inject retatrutide?

Reddit calls it pinning. In the trials, retatrutide was given as a once-weekly injection under the skin. For tirzepatide, a related Lilly drug, the Zepbound label lists the abdomen, the thigh or, if someone else gives the shot, the back of the upper arm, and says to rotate sites with each dose. That's tirzepatide guidance, not retatrutide data.

Should I take retatrutide based on Reddit?

Reddit shows what people report, and nobody in a thread can tell you what is safe for you. No approved version of retatrutide exists yet, Lilly says it cannot be legally sold or marketed for human use, and the FDA and the UK's MHRA have both acted against sellers. The legitimate routes are a clinical trial or an approved medicine discussed with your doctor.
